What is Gas Storage?
The demand for natural gas is for a great deal dependent upon the weather and is therefore only partly predictable. In general in summers the demand for gas is less than in winters; during the day more gas is necessary than in the night, but it is not possible to accurately predict the demand for gas. Gas storage is developed to meet these (especially seasonal) load variations. In many areas of the world, a significant portion of the gas delivered in the summer, in times of low demand, is injected into storage. This stored gas is then withdrawn from storage in the winter to complement the peak demand on gas.
